City Park Shelter House FAQs and basic information:

Cost: $125 fee for one-day rental. Cash or check only. Due within 5 business days of reservation to hold the date.

Key Pick-Up: You may pick up the key the Friday before (or weekday of) your rental. A $25 deposit (cash or check only) is required at time of pick-up. This deposit is refundable when key is returned the Monday (or next business day) after your rental and all rules have been met.

Reservations and key pick-up/drop-off handled in the Mayor’s Office, 213 S. Main St., open 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday (call first if coming between 12-1 p.m.)

After more than 10 years of planning, plotting and funding, we finally broke ground on the Fostoria Iron Triangle Rail Park in September 2011.

The park is located at Columbus Avenue and Poplar Street, a popular “Iron Triangle” of railroads for train viewing that draws rail fans and photographers from literally all over the world!

Features include a covered viewing pavilion, lighting, Wi-Fi capability and heated restrooms.

The parking lot accommodates 32 cars and five buses/RVs. Fences surround the perimeter for security and unobstructed viewing, and pedestrian paths will provide varying angles for viewing and photography

Q:  I’m looking for a location for a gathering, what does the City Parks System offer?
A:  There are shelter houses at every park (first come-first served) and the Shelter House at City Park may be rented for parties and gatherings. It is a very nice, spacious venue perfect for birthday parties, reunions, and more. See below for all the features of the City Park Shelter House.

Q:  How much is it to rent the Shelter House?
A:  The City Park Shelter can be rented for $125 per day, available from 9 am to dusk. Call the Administrative Assistant in the Mayor's Office at 419-435-8282 to make a reservation. The Shelter is located on Vine Street between Elm & Fremont streets (adjacent to Reservoirs 2 & 3).

The City Park Shelter holds up to 96 occupants and features 12 eight-foot picnic tables, 2 charcoal grills, restrooms, eight electrical outlets, and a sink/kitchenette area. There is a playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, and a basketball court in the park.

In addition to the $125 rental fee, we require a $25 (cash or check only) refundable deposit when picking up the key. Keys must be picked up the Friday before your weekend event between 8 am and 5 pm. Keys must then be dropped off the Monday after your event, at which time your $25 deposit will be refunded. The Mayor's Office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (call ahead if coming between noon and 1 pm).

Q:  Is there a dog park in Fostoria?

A:  Yes! The Dog Park opened in 2012 at Foundation Park.













Q:  Are there walking trails by the reservoirs?

A:  Yes, all six of our reservoirs have walking trails.

Q:  Can I fish/hunt at the reservoirs?

A:  Yes, fishing (license required) is permitted at all reservoirs. Waterfowl hunting only (written permission required – seasonal) is permitted at Reservoirs 5 and 6 only. Call the Mayor’s Office for more information 419-435-8282.

City Park
Located on Vine St. between Elm and Fremont Streets in Hancock County, City Park is closest to the pool. It is adjacent to Reservoirs 2 and 3. It features a popular playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, basketball court, and a picnic Shelter House, made available upon reservation. Foundation Park
Formerly known as Meadowlark Park, Foundation Park boasts 13 baseball and softball fields, a tennis court, playground, picnic shelters, restrooms, concessions and an outdoor amphitheatre. Foundation Park is also home to the only Dog Park in Fostoria – newly opened July 2012 and proving very popular with our dog-loving residents! The Dog Park has two separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs, and dog owners are asked to abide by Ohio’s Vicious Dog Law; dogs displaying aggression toward any other dog or owner are not permitted in the Dog Park. Foundation Park is located on 50 acres at South Union Street and Woodland Avenue in Seneca County.

Foundation Park is also the site of a free brush drop-off/mulch center for Fostoria residents. Open from dawn to dusk 365 days a year, you may drop off brush in the fenced in area in the appropriate pile at your convenience. City employees are on site from 8 to 11 a.m. every FIRST Saturday of the month to help residents load/unload brush and mulch.

Buckley Street Courts
Located on Buckley Street at Eastern Avenue in Seneca County, active locals like to use the 3 recently-resurfaced tennis courts one basketball court at the Buckeye Street Courts.

Harmon Park
Harmon Park has a half acre of playground equipment and is located at the corner of Wood and Fourth Streets in Seneca County.

Jackson Park
A playground, shelter house and picnic tables are situated on 8 acres out at Jackson Park, located on Jackson Street, west of Buckley Street in Seneca County. Shelters available on a first-come first-served basis.

Portage Park
On its 22 acres, Portage Park boasts a sledding hill, walking trail, picnic tables and picnic shelters, grills, outdoor amphitheater, and natural area. It is located on Perrysburg Road (S.R. 199) in Wood County. PHOTOS (3) FROM SCA events.

Gray Park
Gray Park sets on 2.5 acres and features include a playground, sledding hill, picnic tables and picnic shelters, and charcoal grills. It is located on directly across from City Park on Vine Street between Elm and Fremont streets in Hancock County.
