THE WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK!
Each year organic material in the sediment is reintroduced into the water column primarily by wind and temperature fluctuations. This year the result is compounded by the lower water level in Veteran’s Memorial Reservoir. Lack of rain in the East Branch, Portage River Watershed does not allow for any dilution to occur, therefore; we are treating for it aggressively at the reservoir and at the water plant by running lab tests and monitoring feed rates 24/7.
